We’re Inspired

Creative responses to trailblazers for women's rights

We’re Inspired was an art project created by participants of Nuneaton Escape Arts. The project was devised in 2018 by Joanne Lole and Niamh Oldham to celebrate 100 years since women got the vote, focusing on society attitudes and changes over the last 100 years.

Over a six-week period, each session would begin with a costumed monologue performance by Niamh of a different character in history, including Anne Boleyn, George Eliot and Emmeline Pankhurst. The group created mixed media collages whilst discussing changes in society over the past 100 years.

These final artworks show each participant’s individual journey of thought and of thanks to all the male and female trailblazers who have given us the opportunity to vote, to work, to travel, to learn and to achieve our dreams.
